Peggy Grippando, 81, of Krebs, died Thursday, February 13, at McAlester Regional Health Center, with her loving family at her side. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 17, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Krebs, with Father Kingsley George-Obilonu officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in North Town. Peggy’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Anna “Peggy” Grippando was born on July 9, 1938 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Charles Emmett and Theresia Maria (Altebaumer) Coyne. She had lived in Missouri and Arkansas before moving to McAlester in 1977, where she met her future husband, Tom Grippando. They were married on Aug. 28, 1981 and have made their home, mainly in Krebs, since then. Peggy had worked as a beautician for a number of years then became the secretary and bookkeeper for both, St. Joseph’s Church and St. John’s Church. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and working crossword puzzles.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Tom Grippando, of the home; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Angela Grippando of Hartshorne; 1 grandson, Tre Grippando; 2 sisters, Rose Roberts and Barbara Raiskums, both of Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Betty Bennett, and 3 brothers, John, Charles and Bill Coyne.
