The only child of Noel Alberty and Merl (Estes) Alberty was born December 8, 1933, in Muskogee. The family moved to Tulsa during Shirley's youth, and it would be while attending Glenwood Baptist Church that Shirley would meet a fine young boy named Frank Foutch. Frank and Shirley married on Christmas Day of 1951 at Glenwood Baptist Church. Shirley went on to graduate from Tulsa Central High School in 1952, where she played viola in the orchestra. Around 1954, Frank entered the ministry and Shirley was by his side assisting him for over 50 years. They started Frank's career at Trinity Baptist Church in Sand Springs, Oklahoma Baptist University, Red Fork Baptist Church, Del City First Southern Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Houston, TX, Arizona Southern Baptist Convention, Plymouth Park Baptist Church, Tulsa Baptist Association, and .
Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma.
After Frank's retirement, they joined Olivet Baptist Church where Shirley enjoyed singing in the Praise Age Choir. Throughout the years she also enjoyed teaching Sunday school, playing piano, and playing the bells. Shirley was a member of the Women's Missionary Union.
Shirley was a talented seamstress and loved crafts. She made all her clothes and children's clothes, as well as formal dresses for her daughters, for many years. She was also well known for her elaborate Christmas Villages made out of plastic canvas and needlepoint. Many of her friends and family were blessed to be recipients of her beautiful work.
Shirley will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother. She had a wonderful smile for everyone she met, and was always sweet and kind. Everybody loved Shirley, and Shirley loved everybody.
